Skydiving is one of the most freeing things I’ve ever done—but I’d be lying if I said the nerves don’t still creep in.
There are moments—standing in the loading area, riding to altitude, or staring at the open door—when fear tries to steal the show.
But when I’m jumping with friends, everything changes.
There’s something powerful about looking across the plane and seeing someone give you a thumbs up, a fist bump, or a smile that says, “You’ve got this.” It reminds me that I’m not doing this alone. We’re in it together—sharing the same sky, the same adrenaline, and sometimes, the same doubts.
The fear doesn’t disappear completely—but it softens. It becomes manageable. Having friends around turns the jump into a shared adventure instead of a personal battle. We laugh off the awkward exits, cheer on each other’s progress, and celebrate the small wins that mean everything.
Jumping with people who believe in you—even when you’re unsure of yourself—is one of the best parts of this sport. It’s not just about freefall or canopy time; it’s about community.
So when fear shows up at the door, I remind myself: I’m not alone up here. I’m surrounded by people who get it—and that makes all the difference.
