When I first earned my A license, I stuck with the comfort of poised exits. It felt stable, safe, and familiar—but as with everything in skydiving, growth happens just outside your comfort zone.
Recently, I decided to start experimenting with different exit positions—delta, diving, back flips, and even some more aggressive launches. I was nervous at first. What if I messed it up? What if I couldn’t get stable? But I reminded myself: I’m here to learn, not to be perfect.
The first time I tried a delta exit, it felt completely different. My timing was off, I hesitated, and I flailed a little—but I was smiling the whole way down. Each jump after that got a little smoother, and a little more fun.
What surprised me most wasn’t how different each exit felt, but how much it taught me about body awareness, timing, and trust—in both myself and my jump partners.
If you’re like me and nervous to try something new, here’s my advice: lean into it. Let it be messy. Let it be awkward. That’s how you grow.
Every jump is a chance to build confidence—and trying new exits has reminded me that being a beginner at something again can be really exciting.
