Brooke’s Story: Learning to Get Past the Rough Landings

This month’s featured read is Brooke’s honest look at a stretch of jumping where landings weren’t going the way she wanted. She talks about struggling with flares, replaying mistakes in her head, and what it took to keep showing up anyway. It’s a good reminder that progression isn’t always clean or linear, and that most of us have been there in one form or another.  

Brooke’s story also ties into her bigger journey at Skydive COS. She’s written before about pushing through fear, taking breaks, and coming back stronger to earn her license. If you’ve followed her posts, you can see the thread of steady growth through the hard parts.  

If you haven’t read “Landing Hard on Myself” yet, it’s worth it. It’s real, relatable, and written straight from the heart of the sport.

Coming right behind that is another Brooke post about mental pace. She talks about how skydiving moves fast, but your thinking doesn’t have to spiral with it. The takeaway is simple and useful: slow your mind down before the door, breathe, and let training do what it’s supposed to do.  

That one’s a great read for students, newer jumpers, and honestly anyone who’s ever felt the adrenaline start talking a little too loud.

A-License Wins
