April Newsletter: Less Chill, More Jumps

Table of Contents

Less cold and longer days mean more tandems. April was great, and May is shaping up to be a good one at the drop zone. Whether you’re working toward your next license, planning a tandem, or just looking for an excuse to be here more, we’ve got something for you.

What’s Coming in May

USPA B-License Canopy Course | May 9

Canopy landing at Skydive Colorado Springs

If you’ve been meaning to dial in your canopy skills, this is your sign.

This 5-jump course is designed to help you become more intentional and confident under canopy. You’ll spend time on the ground breaking things down, then take it into the sky with focused drills and one-on-one feedback after each jump. This course it’s about actually understanding what your canopy is doing and how to fly it well.

You’ll need your A-License and at least 30 jumps to get started (most people tackle this closer to 50 while working toward their B). Each jump is tracked on a Canopy Proficiency Card, which your instructor will sign off as you progress.

Expect to work on accuracy, stall awareness and recovery, clean control inputs, and getting more comfortable using risers and toggles. All jumps are hop-and-pops from at least 5,000 ft, so you’ll get straight to the good stuff.

  • Zero to Hero students: Free
  • Non–Zero to Hero: $75

Jump tickets are separate, so plan accordingly.

“It was my first time tandem skydiving yesterday and I had the absolute time of my life. Travis was my instructor and he was so great at explaining everything and making me feel super comfortable about the jump. The views were incredible. So glad I got to check off this bucket list experience with Skydive Colorado Springs.”
